Founded in 2004 by Bob and Serina Taylor, the fleet began with a single vessel and a shared dream: to bring people back to the water and create unforgettable experiences with every trip.

Fishing and the ocean have always been part of the Taylors’ story. Serina grew up right here in Calabash, where her father owned a shrimp boat and sold his fresh catch straight off the docks starting in 1953. His little open-air shack eventually became the Waterfront Seafood Shack, a beloved local spot that still carries his legacy. As a kid, Serina dreamed of running an ice cream shop on the waterfront. Her father would always say, “Ain’t gonna be no ice cream shop on this dock,” but that didn’t stop her from dreaming – or building something even bigger with Bob years later.

Serina and Bob met back in 5th grade (thanks to a well-aimed spitball from Serina), graduated from North Myrtle Beach High, and eventually reconnected and married. In 2004, they left their careers – Serina in staffing and Bob in home construction – to follow their passion and return to the water. That year, they launched their first charter boat, The Navigator, and officially began the Calabash Fishing Fleet.

Today, the fleet has grown to 10 ultra-modern vessels, offering a wide range of fishing charters – from deep sea adventures to inshore trips and scenic dolphin cruises. Whether you’re a first-time angler or a seasoned pro, every trip is led by experienced captains who know these waters like home. With a focus on hospitality, fun, and family, the Calabash Fishing Fleet has become a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

It’s still a true family operation. Their oldest daughter, Juliana Taylor, practically grew up behind the counter – sitting in a car seat tucked inside the original ice cream shop while Serina scooped cones and served coffee. Today, Juliana handles the backend of the business, managing restaurant operations, ordering, and logistics. Their youngest daughter, Josie Taylor, is hands-on in every way – from working in the restaurant to holding a 100-ton captain’s license. She can be found doing everything from running charters to welding and working on the family farm.

The Taylors have raised their daughters with the same values that started this whole adventure – faith, family, hard work, and a deep love for the water. They’ve watched their girls grow up fishing, crabbing, helping on the docks, and learning what it means to be part of something bigger than just a business.
